Keynote Speaker

Louis J. Giannotti
Chief Information Officer
Deputy for Information Technology

Mr. Giannotti is a native of Bristol, Connecticut. He attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford prior to entering the United States Naval Academy, graduating in 1969. As a surface line Naval Officer, he served at sea and ashore for 21 years.
While at sea, Mr. Giannotti served on-board various frigates and destroyers in a variety of positions such as Communications Officer, Operations Officer, Engineering Officer, and Executive Officer. He became Commanding Officer of USS HALYBURTON (FFG-40) in May 1988 and deployed to the Persian Gulf during the Iraq-Iran war.
While ashore, he earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Operations Research and Systems Analysis. He was subsequently assigned to assist in the completion of the Naval War College’s automated war gaming Warfare and Research System (WARS). Mr. Giannotti returned to the Naval Academy to teach as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department. Following sea duty, he returned again to become the Chairperson of the Computer Science Department where he provided the leadership for the first professional accreditation of the Computer Science Major. He eventually served as the Naval Academy’s Dean of Finance.
Mr. Giannotti retired from the Naval Service to join Decision Systems Technologies, Inc. (DSTI) as Technical Director. He eventually became a General Manager and Vice President. DSTI is a leader in development and integration high technology products and services.
Following DSTI, he returned to the Naval Academy where he presently is the Chief Information Officer, the Deputy for Information Technology, and the Director of Information Technology Services Division. In addition to CIO he concurrently served in other capacities such as the acting Dean of Admissions and the acting Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Giannotti also advises and assists senior Navy organizations and commands to resolve global information technology issues, as well as serving on a corporate board and university advisory council.
Throughout his career he received various personal military awards, academic awards, and civilian service awards.
