Many of us are aware that STIR/Shaken was enacted on June 30, 2021 with the goal of curbing unwanted SPAM calls, and the number of unwanted phone calls has been curbed to some degree. This only takes care of part of the problem. On average, 12% of total voice traffic is unwanted traffic, of which 34% are potential cyber threats. These threats come in the form of spoofing, vishing, spam calls, and robo calls. They are all part of the same thing: “Unwanted Voice Traffic”. We have seen spoofing become commonplace for many enterprises, with little to no means of responding to the problem and identifying root cause for calls received that cannot be traced to its Caller ID #. Vishing, the voice side of phishing, has become a strategic business problem that can damage any company’s reputation, weaken customer relationships, and increase marketing and digital cyber-security costs.

The cost of a single data breach in the US is $8.19 million, or a global loss of $46.3 billion annually. Voice spam affects the modern enterprise by stymieing voice traffic, offers a cyber security risk for putting critical company IP add risk comma and distracts employees from working on the issues that actually matter.

How can one minimize such issues? Please join us with special guest Vicki Sidor, VP of Channel Development for Mutare, who will share her insights on this hot topic.

We will also have OpSec back for a recap of their knowledge share 2 weeks ago. We look forward to seeing you on the Fireside Chat!
